If you use an Apple Mighty Mouse with Windows XP, after a while you might notice that the side buttons of the mouse click or fire themselves randomly at times. If you are trying to use a web browser, this can become problematic as you will keep going “back” to the previous page at random times. Luckily, there is an easy solution to this problem.
Instead of physically taking the Mighty Mouse apart, try installing the X-Mouse Button Control by Phillip Gibbons. X-Mouse Button Contol is a free application that allows you to customize all mice buttons. It has many features that are useful for any brand of mouse, but for fixing the pesky misfiring on an Apple Mighty Mouse, just set the 4th and 5th buttons to “disable” and you’re back in business.
